Yesterday, FIFA had its best day since predicting the opening match, but lets see how it did with Day 6’s matches.

United State VS Ghana

FIFA Result

United States 2- Ghana 0

United States 2
Dempsey (17′)
Green (90′)

Ghana 0

The United States controlled most of the game with a good defensive scheme, and dangerous offense. They were able to score early in the first half, then kill the game at the last moment of the match with a second goal by Green.

World Cup Game Result

United States 2- Ghana 1

United States 2
Dempsey (1′)
John Brooks Jr. (86′)

Ghana 1
Ayew (82′)

The United States got its revenge against the team that eliminated them four years ago. The Americans begun the game in the right way, as their first play yielded a goal. The rest of the game was a tense affair, as Ghana is clearly a capable team. They did finally tie in the 82nd minute, but the Americans responded with a goal of their own and got their payback.

Germany VS Portugal

FIFA Result

Germany 3- Portugal 0

Germany 3
Ozil (38′)
Podolski (52′)
Ozil (86′)

Portugal 0

Despite counting with the talented Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal was outclassed by an organized German team that was ready to play its game. They won 3-0, but completely dominated the game, and it could have been a higher tally.

World Cup Game Result

Germany 4- Portugal 0

Germany 4
Muller (P)(12′)
Hummels (32′)
Muller (45+1′)
Muller (78′)

Portugal 0

Germany demolished Portugal, outplaying them in just about every aspect of the game. Muller opened the scoring on a penalty after a foul by Pepe, and Portugal never looked able to respond. Muller was the man who disassembled the Portuguese defense was Muller, not Ozil, but a similar situation to the game. Germany shows the came to win the world cup.

Iran VS Nigeria

FIFA Result

Iran 0-Nigeria 0

Iran 0

Nigeria 0

This was a slow, boring match where neither team took chances or abandoned its defensive plan. Nigeria should have won this match, as they are better team, at least on paper, but they could not find a way through the Iranian defense, and few shots at goal they had went astray.

World Cup Game Result

Iran 0- Nigeria 0

Iran 0

Nigeria 0

A very and sadly similar match to the one we saw in the simulation. A slow game with very little risks taken by either side, this would have been Nigeria’s game to win. Instead they face a game against Argentina, and against a Bosnian team that played a great game in their opening match.

Conclusion

The best day for the FIFA simuations so far. It guessed every game correctly, although its goal count is still lower than the one in the real World Cup. Day 6 matches will be a little harder to guess, but we’ll see if FIFA can keep this momentum.
