The quarterfinals are gone and only Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and the Netherlands remain. These are very classic matches, but who will move on, and how well will FIFA guess? Lets find out!

There is nothing for me to say about this game that hasn’t been said already by someone else (and probably better). The only thing I will say is that I don’t know how Brazil will get back in shape for this for the third place match on Saturday.

Argentina VS Netherlands

FIFA Result

Argentina 3 Netherlands 1

Argentina 3
Messi (41′)
Higuain (50′)
Mascherano (77′)

Netherlands 1
Robben (74′)

Despite being a very even match, the Netherlands did not seem to be able to make use of Robben’s speed and his ability to connect to Van Persie. When Mascherano scored the third goal, the game was all but over

World Cup Result

Argentina 0 Netherlands 0 (2-4)

In a very tactical match, neither team seemed to be able to find the space they needed to score, although Argentina did create more opportunities, but it was Mascherano’s command of the midfield that really stood out. In the end it went to penalties, where Romero became a hero by blocking two shots and launching Argentina to the finals.

Conclusion

No one saw Germany’s destruction of the home team coming, probably not even the Germans, but FIFA’s bet against Brazil has finally paid off. On the other side of the bracket, Argentina has made it to the final, making the Germany-Argentina final the most repeated in history.
