Rockstar Discusses GTA Online

Good old anarchic fun with up to 15 other players.

So, Grand Theft Auto V is out and doing astronomically well. That said, it’s still not done, well, not quite.

The game has yet to implement GTAV’s online component, which is slated to be launched in October, and after a bit of browsing the game’s files and some fan speculation Rockstar has officially announced its own details.

Rockstar seems to be making promises that aren’t too unfamiliar to anyone that’s followed press for online games or multiplayer components, such as constant content updates and letting the gamers shape the direction of the game. What exactly this means for Grand Theft Auto online waits to be seen, though Rockstar is genuinely stressing the need for player feedback from day 1 of the online server launch and have an email ready to go live for the occasion GTAOnline@rockstargames.com (Don’t bother using it yet, it will go live when the online component goes live).

Now I personally have had a lot of fun with GTAIV’s experience, but it was little more than cause chaos with strangers and log off, so doing more with the online feature could easily make for a strong, fun and hopefully new experience. For some of their new online features they’re boasting character creation and the ability to participate in your own, big planned heists with other players.

The website does admit they’re expecting hiccups in the first few weeks of their online implementation, a fair admission, especially given the strain on the Rockstar’s Social Club after GTAV’s launch.
