Hey ya dingus, yeah you, I see you there with your fancy new Playbox 4000 that you can’t use because it doesn’t have the latest and greatest firmware. Playstation Network put up a good fight but looks like it’s lost the battle at least for today. Numerous users are reporting being kicked out of the service and having scary sounding errors like E-80E80034 and NW-31453-6 pop up left and right.
This is putting a particular kibosh on the fun for people who didn’t feel like heading out at midnight to pick their device up as they are now finding themselves unable to download the 1.50 firmware to enjoy the system properly.
If you’re one of the unlucky souls having trouble getting the patch there is a solution and all you need is some kind of USB flash media and your own courage. Sony has laid out the instructions to follow here.
Unfortunately there’s not much of a solution for the general stability of the service aside from waiting it out over the course of the next few days. But c’mon, are you really that surprised that a system with over 1 million pre-orders isn’t having a super smooth launch?
