Today Activision released a trailer teasing the next Call of Duty, and the most interesting tidbit is that Kevin Spacey (House of Cards, Superman Returns) will be lending his voice talents and likeness as a major player in the next game.
But the powerhouse actor signing on for Call of Duty isn’t the only interesting news here. The game, titled Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, appears to be the start of a new franchise for the long running series. The trailer shows power armor, VTOLs, stealth, hoverbikes and all manner of futuristic toys. How this plays out in the actual game, and if it has any real impact on the way Call of Duty is played, will remain to be seen.
The new Call of Duty asks the question as to what happens when military contractors have free reign. While it’s not necessarily a new concept (Metal Gear Solid? Ace Combat?) the overall premise of the game sets us up for an environment we haven’t yet seen in the Call of Duty franchise.
Activision and Sledgehammer games have also been making the most out of social media with this title, feeding out teases and information on their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
The game is slated to launch November 4th, 2014.
