Gust has released a debut video for Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea today. Altelier Shallie is the third, and most likely final installment of the Atelier Dusk series and the 16th game in the Atelier franchise overall.
The title follows Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk and Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. Atelier Shallie was slated for a June 26th release in Japan, but had a slight push back as Gust wanted to make sure they got the game just right. Given some of the unfortunate glitches prior Atelier titles have faced, this isn’t at all a bad thing. From the looks of things Atelier Shallie will follow Escha & Logy’s gameplay style of allowing you to play as one of two protagonists.
The game stars alchemists Shallote and Shallistera. Boasting larger fields than the previous games (areas for combat and finding alchemy materials), both alchemists will also have different abilities for collecting reagents. Shallote will be able to clean fish and use it as bait, while Shallistera has a “dowsing” ability to suss out unique items.
The Burst Gauge will also return, allowing up to six characters in a battle to build up the gauge via attacking and unleash special abilities. The game will also allow a more “tailored” experience, giving players missions and tasks based on their play style. For example, a player who spends more time in combat will be given more battle related missions.
There’s been no Western release date for Atelier Shallie announced yet, but seeing as how the last two trilogies were localized as well as the prior Dusk games, expecting a North American release isn’t too far beyond bounds.
For now enjoy the new Japanese trailer.
