In the past few months, Naughty Dog has suffered from the departure of key members of its staff, particularly related to their upcoming and much anticipated game Uncharted 4. These departures, and particularly the departure of Amy Hennig, meant that the future of the new Uncharted title was somewhat uncertain. On Monday, in an interview with Gameinformer Naughty Dog’ Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra put the worries to rest. Uncharted 4 has been given to the duo who led the development of last year’s hit The Last of Us: Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann.
This is not really a surprise, The Last of Us was widely successful last year, the Uncharted series is the most valuable property that Naughty Dog owns, and one of Sony’s most important exclusives. This team not only has the success of The Last of Us to make them a good match, but were also involved in the development of Uncharted and Uncharted 2. It will be interesting to see what they can deliver in the first next gen title for the series.
