Chroma Squad was originally supposed to land on your computer in late 2013, but you know what they say about best laid plans. The game presented a really unique scenario: put players in charge of managing and recording episodes for a sentai (the term can be used to describe a lot of different shows but we can save some time by using Power Rangers as an example) TV show. Basically, allow them to pick and customize a cast, and then send them into battle against costumed monsters.
If you back a game on Kickstarter and it misses its original release date you would probably be forgiven for giving up the ghost after the year mark, and while Behold Studios (the folks behind Knights of Pen and Paper) have done an admirable job of keeping their backers up to date it’s hard not to get a little pessimistic.
Well now you can be pessimistic no more. The ambitious project has finally received a release date:
No doubt, a year-long delay certainly implies some heavy roadblocks including a noteworthy a run in with the ever litigious owners of Power Rangers: Saban, who you may have seen in the news recently after they tried to shut down the coolest thing to happen to their franchise since…uh…ever. Nevertheless Chroma Squad looks like it’s turning out nicely. Better late than never, and hopefully backers will be happy they waited when the game releases on April 30th.
