Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo and CEO of Nintendo of America, passed away July 11th, 2015.
Mr. Iwata served as Nintendo’s president from 2002 following his predecessor Hiroshi Yamauchi.
Nintendo’s internal announcement indicates he died due to a bile duct growth. There are no other details at this time.
Iwata sought treatment and surgery last year for a bile duct tumor and had to skip E3 2014 due to medical complications.
He was born December 6th, 1959. Mr. Iwata was 55 years old.
