The folks over at Respawn made their first moves to address cheaters in the recently released Titanfall yesterday. PC gamers may already be familiar with server side anti-cheat middleware FairFight which is being used to detect aimbot lovers and other unsavory characters on the Frontier.
Curious as to whether or not you’ve banned? Just check your splash screen for a little red message upon boot to see if you’re one of the lucky few.
So let’s say you’re busted, what happens now? Well it turns out there’s some good news, and some bad. You get to keep playing Titanfall, but you may not have the best time doing it:
Great news: you get to keep playing Titanfall! Less-great news: you only get to play with other cheaters. You can play with other banned players in something that will resemble the Wimbledon of aimbot contests. Hopefully the aimbot cheat you paid for really is the best, or these all-cheater matches could be frustrating for you. Good luck.
The system is setup to not only hamper the cheater’s Titanfall experience but can also damage their real world relationships as well by making it so that any unfortunate non-cheating friends they party up with will also be forced to endure the agony of aimbot island for the duration of their play session.
So far this announcement seems to only be attached to the PC version of the game. You can read the full write up on the Titanfall website: http://www.titanfall.com/news/we-hate-cheaters-just-as-much-as-you-do
