XCOM Creator Julian Gollop has reached the target of his kickstarter campaign for his remake 1985 ZX Spectrum (come on, who didn’t own a Spectrum?) game Chaos: The Battle of the Wizards. The new arena based tactics RPG, titled Chaos Reborn, saw a close campaign as a little over a day ago when it was 20k short of its 180k goal before eventually getting a last minute break in the numbers with backers contributing a total of $189,066 with just one day left in the campaign.
Chaos Reborn will see you take on the role of a wizard who summons creatures into battles to face off against other wizards and map beasties. There is a prototype of Chaos Reborn currently available by clicking here. Be warned you will need to install Unity Web Player in order to give it a go, and wait on other players to join you for a match up.
While the market currently has more than its share of arena based multiplayers, Julian Gollop’s wheelhouse is turn based strategy that present quite a bit of challenge. From the demos it looks like matches will play out more like a hybrid of a strategy RPG and a chess match, and the fact there’s already a working prototype alongside Julian’s industry experience gives us a promising proof of concept.
