Steam In-Home Streaming is Now Live

Use your best computer to run your games on all of your machines.

Steam In-Home streaming is now out of beta, and available to all of Steam’s 75 million users. This service will allow users to run their steam games on their more powerful computer, then stream the video and audio to another machine in their home network, and send their inputs from that device back to the home network.

According to the in-home streaming page, all you need to take advantage for the service is two different computers with steam installed on them. This will allow you to run a game installed in other machine without using a lower spec system’s hardware. It also allows the user to run games across different operating systems, and to pause a game in  one computer and continue play it in another device.

Earlier this year, Jason gave us his impressions on the beta for this service. While his experience was not good, the good folks at Valve were gracious enough to reach out to him and look into fixing his concerns, so it is a good bet that the system has improved dramatically since then. Give it a try and let us know how it went.
