For a game whose first episode is supposedly releasing this year, TellTale has kept details on their upcoming Game of Thrones title very close to their metaphorical chest. Week after week the developer has leaked out just the tiniest bit of concept art, screenshots, and trailers. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of everything we know for sure about the game.

  • The game’s story will be focused around House Forrester located in the northern end of Westeros, very near Deepwood Motte. The clan has not been mentioned or shown on the HBO show but the books do reference them briefly in A Dance With Dragons.

House Forrester is a noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros. Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.

  • Players will experience the game’s story from the perspective of five of the different members of House Forrester scattered across Westeros and Essos. We don’t yet know how these perspectives will be broken up across episodes.
  • Although the primary protagonists will be original to the game, there will be appearances by numerous members of the show’s cast with their respective actors providing voices in most cases. Actors confirmed so far are: Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Snow). TellTale also mentions that other actors will appear in subsequent episodes.
  • Official screenshots have been pretty light, but there’s been a couple pieces of promotional art floating around for awhile, including a picture of Ironrath which is the primary home of House Forrester.

  • The game will span six episodes, a departure from TellTale’s usual five.
  • As of yesterday we also have the latest teaser trailer which provides our first look at the game in motion.

There’s still no word on a release date beyond “soon” so keep an eye out, Game of Thrones might be available by the time you read this.
