Nintendo lead with their biggest news first in today’s Nintendo Direct. Majora’s Mask, the much beloved (and moderately feared) Legend of Zelda installment, will be heading to the 3DS just in time to depress you for the spring season of 2015.
The video is vague on the subject of what exactly has been changed in the updated classic, but Iwata does emphasize that the team has done their best to maintain the original level of challenge while making sure the gameplay experience was as smooth as possible. I’m sure you can expect to hear more as we approach the game’s release next year.
There was of course more in the Nintendo Direct but a lot of it was stuff we already knew or could have inferred, here’s some of the highlights:
- The Mario Kart 8 DLC is fast approaching and it actually looks really good. The 8 new tracks being added to the game will include levels themed after F-Zero, The Legend of Zelda, and Excitebike. The first pack will also include three new characters, Link, Tanooki Mario, and Cat Peach. The pack will be available next week on November 13th.
- The Duck Hunt dog was touted as playable in Smash Bros for Wii U, I think everyone probably assumed that would be the case, but uh, thanks anyway. It was also revealed that Duck Hunt would be heading for the Virtual Console.
- If you hate yourself there is a Sonic Boom demo available on the 3DS starting today.
- Persona Q will have its own special 3DS XL bundle for you to purchase and then regret when the new hardware comes out next year.
