Volition Plans to Add 100 New Positions

The Saint's Row developer also has remodeled their headquarters.

Deep Silver Volition LLC, better known as Volition, but perhaps even better known as “the people that make Saints Row”, is adding 100 new positions to its team. Volition currently has a staff of 200 people, so this is a major addition to their workforce, and a significant investment that likely means Deep Silver, Volition’s new parent company, may have big plans for the developer in the future.

The developer is also looking to remodel their offices in Champaign, Illinois, although they’ve had to depend on financial assistance from the City Council to complete the renovation. Sources claim that this is due to Volition’s pressure to cut some of the costs from their planned expansion, or to move out of the expensive Champaign downtown area. It seems that with the promise of jobs, a scarce commodity still in many communities in the United states, they are all but guaranteed to get the assistance they need.

Stories about studio closures tend to get a lot of press, even at Enemy Slime. Some might say this is the product of the narrative that AAA games are dying and the AAA market will soon disappear, but it seems that is not quite the case. The obscene profits that Rockstar reaped with GTA last year, and the success of franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty show that there is still plenty of room for AAA development, but releasing a bad game is costlier than ever.
